Shell offers $2.4 Billion for Peace River oil sands company

Another takeover in Alberta's oil sands has been reported, as Shell bid $2.4 billion to acquire junior oil sands producer Blackrock Ventures.

Blackrock's oil sands production exceeds 10,000 bpd, with estimated reserves at over 200 million barrels, according to a report published by Reuters on May 8 2006 and written by Scott Haggett.

Blackrock's main production area is in the Peace River oil sands region of Alberta.
