60 Minutes Weighs in on Oil Sands: "...so much money to be made"

In a report aired on CBS 60 Minutes this week, Alberta's vast oil sands were presented to viewers worlwide.

According to CBS reporter Bob Simon "...there is so much to scoop, so much money to be made" in the oil sands that a boom of magnitude has swept through the industry.

The program quoted a Shell executive Clive Mather as predicting that the region could potentially hold as much as 8 times the total reserves of Saudi Arabia --- two trillion barrels of oil.
